Again.. one of my favorite place to shoot.. and guess what.. i managed to capture travel in 4 mediums 🙂
On Earth, in water, in the air and through space…
We are not still…
I am not sure if we are alone or not.. but we are definitely not still 😉
Wanted to capture the milky way… but the clouds kinda got in the way.. so i improvised… n got these beautiful trails instead.. n guess what i got trails on the land, in water in the sky and in space 🙂
Another one with the stars n not so much movement…
Thanks for the views…
Promised long ago.. fulfilled now 🙂 Here are the pics form the Sydney trip we took in Jul ’13. Sydney harbor is indeed a beautiful place, both at night and in the day. Plentiful sunshine made the day even better… and that was in the peak of winters 😀
the snap above is a view of the harbor from the train station.
Up next is a panoramic view of the two icons of Sydney.. Opera house and the Sydney harbor bridge.
This photo has an interesting story and an anecdote 🙂
I had packed my light weight tripod for the trip.. after-all i had to get beautiful shots of the Sydney harbor at night… how could i miss those 😉
So we get to the park and i take out my tripod… set it up n all.. Next thing i try to mount my camera on it… and guess what.. the bracket on the camera is for my usual tripod… 😥
Well, i had to get those shots one way or another… so i found this lil wall at the waters edge.. its ends were tapered n not flat.. after a lot of camera acrobats i finally manage to get my camera stable and get a couple of shots needed for the panoramas n other shots. Its a success, gods must be happy on me 🙂
Come back home and realize the mounting bracket for the travel tripod is right in the top pocket of my bag… and so the story goes.
Now the anecote.. whatever happens.. happens for the greater good.. well is did here.. for me 😉 Had i had the tripod, i would have set it up somewhere safely on the walkway instead of dangling my camera right at the waters edge (that too on a tapered wall 😉 )… but i would have walked away with pretty std shots.. instead of these, which i somehow think came better.
Hut on the bridge…
This one came out quiet nice (according to yours truly 😀 )… Initially i had dismissed the shot to be too touristy n well.. std. But then in a creative bout of boredom lo and behold…
The three sisters…
Wonder where their heads are though 😉
Blue mountains national park.. a beautiful day trip (n probably tons more) close to Sydney. It has a lot more to offer than we could afford on a day trip though.
(Note to self… go back for more)
St Kilda Beach…
before you go “Wait..What.. how the… this aint Sydney.. you moron!!!”
I know 😛 but i just got a nice shot that i wanted to show off.. This is St Kilda beach in Melbourne. Really beautiful place to walk, dine n just about spend a nice evening at.
Thats all folks… Hope you had fun 🙂

Been a long time since my last post… Life gets to you some times 😉 Not in a bad way though… just kept me on my toes for the last few months. One thing I did not stop doing though… going places and taking pics 😀
Lake Tahoe is an easy choice when ones pressed for time… always beautiful.. no matter what the weather:) and pretty close to the bay area 🙂
The pic above with the fiery skies is from my latest trip. Early bird really caught itself something phenomenal this time around 🙂
Heres another one from the trip… Had to trek a lil bit for this one… I just love how you can walk a few mins to be transported someplace totally new 🙂
Onto some older ones now…
This is one from the last trip in the winters… This ones is at Sand Harbor… another location which is perennially beautiful 🙂 You cant go wrong here be it day or night sumers or winters 🙂
Another one from Sand Harbor at a mesmerizing sunset…
Hope you enjoyed these pics.. for more check out the complete gallery here.
Keep checking back.. i’ll be posting stuff from my more recent trips too 😀
Recently I was lucky enough to visit Toledo, OH (well technically i was in Sylvania… but I’ll call it the Toledo Trip 😛 ). It is a beautiful place… especially for me.. coming form the Bay area… open spaces n large houses are a treat to see 😀
From Lake Erie to Niagra falls… the trip was something i would reminisce about for some time to come :). The shot above is from Niagara (yeah right… like no one knows that one already) all lit up… Boy is that ai site to behold. I am pretty sure that the view from the Canadian side is even more mesmerizing, hope i had a Canadian visa 😦
A lovely sunset at Lake Erie…
We were lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time… Beautiful.
Lake Erie is a huge lake, and come to think of it, its on the smaller side when compared to the rest of the great lakes.
Toronto in the distance…
Well, the tower at the far side is in Toronto…Wandering the streets of Niagara in the evening… this was indeed a beautiful site. Its a nice place that has its own charm even if you take away the Falls..
A beautiful street light in Niagara… a beautiful eventful evening.
Thanks for stopin by..

Getting a beautiful star studded night scene has been a long time dream of mine… Seems im not done yet… I wanted to get a beautiful night scene with the Milky Way taking up the most of the sky. I seem to have a long way to go 😦
Here’s another one from this shoot…
I thought i was ready… i had scouted the location (well, i have taken multiple sunsets at the Natural Bridges beach in santa cruz…) and was ready with my tripod at sundown… Remote (wired) shutter release inserted into the camera and the lens focused on infinity… As the sun set and the stars began to pop up i fired away… one long exposure after another. The pics did show stars but i seem to have lucked out when it came to getting the milkey way…
The closest I have ever come was this shot (again in santa cruz) back in 2011…
Aaah… anyways, i am not done yet… another day will end and another night will come… I hopefully will get the ever elusive (in my case anyways 😉 ) milky way some day… 😀
Tons of thanks to my wife and kid for the immense patience they showed couped up in the car while i snapped away like a mad man… Thanks guys 🙂
How many times have you bashed up yourself for a missed opportunity? I, on a recent trip to Mammoth lakes CA, had such a moment. I had scoped locations and found one at Silver lake (near the more known mono lake) silver lake. I did a quick check(enough time to get to the location n setup, camera, batteries, tripod, lenses, etc) and started to head out of my motel room, but as usually happens, got delayed (people with toddlers would know why ;)). Ended up reaching there just in time to miss the last ray of the setting sun vanishing on the mountain top as i settled in 😦
Man did i feel down n out, this was our last evening at Mammoth lakes, CA before we headed out to Lake Tahoe. The i just remembered a spot i had seen driving back from my scouting trip in the afternoon, i thought why not go there n capture some b/w shots cus the location had imprinted itself on my mind. I did push my drive a bit, but as i pulled up there, i was mesmerized by what i saw. I had to get onto the shoulder to get these shots, saw all the cars zip by. I was in for a treat… the most amazing n dramatic sky i had seen for quiet some time n a perfect backdrop to this tattered hut. I quickly got my cameras out, the light was fading fast, i had no time to setup tripods n all… I fired of maybe more than 200 shots… but i got results like this, this and the one i have posted above. Was i a happy man 😀
Moral of the story (for me really, more than any one else 😉 ) is, keep an eye out for secondary backups in case you miss your primary for any reason and have the ability to move on instead of getting stuck…

We got to this beautiful serene scene in Yosemite valley as we were about to leave.. What an awesome place to spend a few days at.
